We offer you support with finding your next job in the fields of administration, assistance, human resources or finance
After three years of instruction at their training enterprise, trade school or business school, every commercial employee is overjoyed to finally hold their certificate in their hands, proclaiming that they’re a ‘Commercial Employee, Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training’. But what comes next?
Most start by focusing on a particular area of commerce and gaining experience there, with the most frequently selected areas for commercial employees including accounting, assistance and clerical processing within large companies. The broad knowledge acquired during their training opens the door to many other office-based jobs. That’s precisely why so many graduates find it hard to pick a particular direction – but without a specialisation and an area of focus, they’ll find it hard to advance, sooner or later.
A couple of years after completing their training, if not before, many commercial employees wonder if there is another area in their field that might excite them. Luckily, good commercial training makes it easy to find a job in a different field, or even a different industry. If you started off in a bank, you could also enjoy success in the offices of an industrial company, and a job as an internal sales clerk can be a springboard for a career as a sales specialist. Many commercial employees also have the opportunity to advance to managerial roles. If you want to take on responsibility within a specific area, you need to have completed specialist training. Popular areas like HR, sales or payroll administration require specific further training, on top of your underlying commercial education.
However, specialist knowledge isn’t the only key factor for professional development and promotion opportunities. Commercial employees who speak good French, in addition to German, are particularly in demand in Switzerland.
There are so many office jobs out there that it’s not easy to keep a handle on all of them. We know lots of exciting employers and understand what drives each company – and which could suit you. Have the confidence to take the next step in your career and make the most of our contacts!
