Synthetic Research Chemist - temporary position for min. 1 year starting in August 2021

Your challenges

Your primary responsibility will be to support the development of safe, scalable, sustainable and cost-effective synthetic routes to new Active Ingredients in the Crop Protection Research portfolio to maximize their business value.
  • Detailed planning of organic reactions, taking into consideration safe laboratory practice and careful risk assessment.
  • Safely performing organic reactions in the laboratory, using a wide range of synthetic and purification skills
  • Independently use appropriate analytical techniques to follow reactions (incl. TLC, IR, GC, LC)
  • Characterization of the nature and purity of synthesized products (1D-NMR, MS, IR, MPt, LC, GC, LC-MS, GC-MS)
  • Optimization of chemical processes and development of new routes
  • Protocolling and reporting of results
  • Interacting and communicating in a divers and international professional environment.


Your skills

  • Laborant/In education or a BS or MS in Organic Chemistry
  • Thorough knowledge of practical organic chemistry
  • Expertise in the use of standard and modern chemical laboratory equipment
  • Capable to perform multistep synthesis and to optimize reaction conditions
  • Excellent team working skills and the ability to work on your own initiative
  • Excellent understanding of purification techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of common spectroscopic techniques
  • Basic skills with Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
  • Good knowledge of English
