Your challenges

  • Support and conduct monitoring program activities (e.g. Botrytis cinerea, Plamopara viticola, Alternaria spp.)
  • Support and manage the logistics of incoming and outgoing sampling and biological material
  • Manage sample metadata and result information of different monitoring programs
  • Support in the isolation and cultivation of biological material
  • Extract DNA from strains and bulked populations for further molecular analysis
  • Support bioassay (e.g. sterile bench work, cell counting) and standard molecular activities (e.g. PCR, Sequencing)
  • Support data analysis of bioassay (EC50 calculation) and associate results to molecular tests
  • Actively engage to support a range of projects in development
  • Ensure compliance with internal guidelines regarding Health, Safety and Environment

Your skills

Fungicide resistance research team design, coordinate and deliver monitoring programs and analyses to understand fungicide resistance evolution across a range of plant pathogenic fungi. Bioassay (in vitro or in vivo) and molecular methodologies are regularly employed to monitor population evolution. Monitoring programs require a significant logistics effort to plan sample collection, handle metadata information, propagate biological material in a sterile way, conduct and evaluate bioassay and molecular analysis. Automation and standardization of the processes are essential components of daily work. Monitoring programs are subjected to a certain seasonality in workload. The reproducibility and high quality of the results is essential.
  • This position will require good interpersonal skills and a proactive approach in supporting different projects.
